The 2017 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World provides a significant update on the shifting global milieu that affects nutrition and food security around the world. The report highlights a significant increase in the world’s hunger – up from 777 million in 2015 to 815 million in 2016. According to the report, this is due to conflict and the effects of climate change in parts of Southeast and West Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The event, hosted jointly by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), will provide a Canadian perspective to the report, including a review of the report’s highlights. A panel discussion with experts from IDRC, GAC, FAO, and the Canadian Food Security Policy Group will share the unique insights and perspectives Canada brings to these issues.

French and English simultaneous interpretation will be available.

This event will be videotaped and available on our YouTube channel.
