Session: The 21st Century Professional: Success through Clarity, Adaptability, and Disciplined Networking
Speakers:

Mr. Tim Ragan, Owner & Transformation Engineer, Career Constructors Inc. 

Objective:

This interactive workshop explores how succeeding in the 21st century increasingly requires professionals to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, develop a high degree of adaptability, and embrace disciplined networking . Starting from the basic challenge of framing your mission (objective), the workshop describes the 2 key components of mission effectiveness, and explores 5 success factors for achieving it. Workshop takeaways focus on specific tips for:

  • Developing deeper insights into your own purpose; 
  • Building a strong, compelling value story, and;
  • Practicing disciplined networking habits.

Biography(ies):

Mr. Tim Ragan, Owner & Transformation Engineer, Career Constructors Inc. 

Tim Ragan is a transformation engineer, focusing on the intersection of business and organizational strategy, people alignment, team performance, and hands-on operational execution.  Tim started his career in medical laser research at the University of Alberta, then went on to spend almost two decades as a technology executive with various global telecoms companies. His extensive corporate experiences includes multi-year international placements and hands-on roles in at least 8 major organizational functions.  In 2002, Tim formally launched business consultancy C-View Strategies where he has advised the nanotechnology, sustainable technology, and start-up industries, and has worked with dozens of client organizations helping them improve their overall business performance. In 2009, Tim purchased Career Coaching International (now operating as Career Constructors), providing him an expanded suite of services focused on individual and organizational mission effectiveness.  Tim has a B.Sc. (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Alberta, and an MBA from University of Ottawa. Tim has taught various business and management courses at Telfer School of University of Ottawa for over 7 years, is currently on the board of The Ottawa Network, and is an active coach and mentor with In-TAC. He has co-authored a book on organizational pathologies (Through the Detox Prism), and is currently working on a book on career development, tentatively due out in mid 2016.
