Charles is an accomplished manager and leader in the international development, sustainability and public policy fields with with 20 plus years professional experience planning, leading, managing and implementing complex and innovative technical cooperation programmes in development and transition environments. In recent years Charles has taken on various medium and long term assignments of an interim nature as a means of providing temporary leadership and surge support to organizations and their complex missions.
With great passion Charles strives to build and leverage dynamic relationships between diverse stakeholder groups with a view towards facilitating sustainable social, economic and environmental change with the most vulnerable in at-risk communities or development contexts. Technically Charles has expertise in: social protection, education, TVET, sport diplomacy, public health including SRH, peace building, and purpose led business.
Additionally, Charles is a member of the World Humanitarian Forums International Development Programming Board (https://www.whf.london/programming-board/international-development-programming-board), on the advisory board of the Act Impact Foundation based in Toronto and a Programme Advisor for the Sri Lankan NGO SERVE (https://www.servelk.org)
Passionate about the the SDG agenda and in particular SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities and 17 - Partnerships.
When not working Charles divides his time between home and family in the suburbs of Colombo, Sri Lanka and extended family in Nova Scotia, Canada.
