Job Overview

The Social Media and Web Assistant reports to the Manager, e-Communications and will work closely with members of the team.  In particular, you will support the Social Media Officer by assisting in monitoring IDRC’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn); posting content on social media channels when required; and working with Communications staff in IDRC’s Regional Offices to coordinate social media campaigns. 
 
You will also support the Web Officer by preparing, maintaining, updating, and uploading of web-based and digital media content; applying relevant metadata; providing preliminary advice on appropriate design and layout; and ensuring quality control of web content, and testing new website features. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing, developing, and distributing IDRC’s e-newsletter, as well as providing usage statistics. 

Candidate Profile   

Education                          

  • College diploma in Digital Communications, Web Design, or a related field.

Experience

Position requires minimum of two years of relevant social media and/or web-based experience, which includes:
  • designing, uploading, and maintaining practices; 
  • monitoring and analysis of content, comments and/or inquiries;
  • coordinating workflow and providing administrative support;
  • using various social media tools (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) and metrics, as well as full MS Office suite.

Language

  • Bilingual position (English / French) at an advanced level

Knowledge

  • Good technical understanding in the design and use of digital media content and metadata
  • Basic understanding of CCS and HTML
  • Strong knowledge of social media networks
  • Familiar and comfortable with various social media and web platforms, content management systems, and digital media tools
