Brief Description

 

 Risk Manager, International Development [50% LOE] 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Risk Manager identifies, evaluates, mitigates and monitors organizational risk in order to safeguard the International Development Department’s assets, reputation, and interests. 

 

SALARY: $53, 701-$56,860; pro-rated at 50% LOE 

 

TERM: 2 year contract ending April 2015 

 

REPORTS TO: Senior Director International Development 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Plans, designs and implements an overall risk management process. 

2. Identifies, describes, estimates and analyzes risks to CCA-ID. 

3. Plans and implements risk control actions, such as purchase of insurance, safety and security measures, contract compliance and management, business continuity planning. 

4. Prepares contracts and agreements initiated by CCA-ID; reviews, or leads the review of, contracts and agreements prepared by partners and funders. 

5. Develops risk management tools, practices and policies with the objective of risk avoidance or mitigation. 

6. Prepares risk reports for a variety of audiences, e.g. International Program Committee and Managers. 

7. Provides support, education and training to international development staff to build risk awareness within the organization. 

8. Liaises with the Director, Finance & Administration on organizational risk management. 

 

RESOURCES: 

Approves expenditures within the assigned budget. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Three to five years experience in contract management, risk management, legal services, finance, audit or similar. 

2. Relevant university degree. 

3. Knowledge of the general tools and techniques of risk management 

4. Highly developed skills in communicating to various audiences and in negotiating/influencing 

5. Change agent and leader 

6. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail 

7. Self-directed and ability to work with a minimum of supervision. 

8. Excellent written and spoken English 

9. Experience and/or knowledge of the key functions of the organization would be an asset. 

10. Ability to read, speak and write Spanish is an asset.
