Together/Ensemble Side-Event

Background:

Starting in 2016, the Together/Ensemble brought together professionals and students interested in supporting the implementation and reporting on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference represents an all-of-society approach to addressing Canada’s toughest sustainable development challenges, bringing together the private sector, academia, government, and civil society.

This year the Together/Ensemble conference is hosted by the University of Waterloo on March 2-4. A day of side-events is scheduled for 2:00 – 2:45 PM ET on Friday March 4.

The Canadian Association of International Development Professionals (CAIDP) has organized a side-event at 2:00 PM ET that will examine the importance of prioritizing diversity and inclusion in Canada’s leadership in movement towards achieving the SDGs in International Development.

Presenters:

Erin Quibell, Senior Policy Analyst, Global Affairs Canada Erin is a Senior Policy Analyst in the International Assistance Policy Coordination Division at Global Affairs Canada, leading on Canada’s international implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She started her career in the Canadian International Development Agency in 2008, working on human rights, democracy, and environmental projects in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus through Canada’s partnership with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Over the last 12 years, Erin has predominantly worked on UN global frameworks, such as the Millennium Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda as well as other multilateral forums, including four years working on multilateral issues as a gender equality policy analyst. She holds a B.A. in German and History, and an M.A. in German Literature and Language from Memorial University.

Nomthandazo Malambo, Senior Strategic Knowledge Translation Officer at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Thando advises on and leads work to advance IDRC's corporate priorities related to knowledge translation and thought leadership, including work on gender and equity in the context of the covid-19 pandemic. She is also a PhD candidate in gender and development

Tanya Salewski, is a program management specialist with 25 years’ experience in global health, development, and organizational capacity programming, focused on reproductive, maternal and child health, health systems, gender equality, and organizational leadership. She has led and contributed to global health and development initiatives with Alinea, Aga Khan Foundation Canada, the Canadian Nurses Association, the Canadian Public Health Association, UNICEF-Botswana, and Aga Khan University. She has experience working with Canadian organizations, local institutions, country governments and UN agencies across fifteen countries in Africa, Asia and Central America, including four years in Tanzania, three years in Botswana, and a year in Pakistan.
