Hello, The International Development and Globalization Students Association at the University of Ottawa invites you to participate in International Development Week 2020. International Development Week 2020 is opening with a visual culture night for the purpose of creating a conversation around the topic of the most prevalent symbols of visual culture (textiles, traditional art, and architecture), and their connections to sustainability. On the night of February 2nd, nine creators will showcase their work in a gallery setting at LabO, located within the Ontario Art Gallery. This is a private, invite-only event. Our creators have designed work based on various themes within the climate crisis. These pieces are intended to spark thought and discussion, and to convey the varying interpretations of the climate crisis within the margins of visual culture. Welcome to Climate Crisis X Design, the opening night of International Development Week 2020. This creative showcase will critically explore the way that visual culture and the climate crisis shape each other. It will be the first of many events during the week that have the goal of creating discussions about what is happening, what has happened, and what can be done in our every day as we work towards livable solutions to the climate crisis. Please join us on February 2nd, 2020 from 6:00 to 9:30 pm at LabO to celebrate the work of our creators, the beginning of IDW, and conversations about sustainability in the climate crisis. We invite you to join us for the galleries, for opening remarks to IDW, and for wine and snacks. Invitations are available for $10.00 each ($10.30 online, to accommodate a third-party transaction fee), and are limited in quantity. A valid, government ID will be required. |
