A propos

Oghenefejiro Mejire is a researcher and scholar at the University of Ottawa, completing her Honours in International Development and Globalization with a Minor in Economics. A vocal advocate for decolonizing development, Oghenefejiro is the author of Surviving the African Parent, a novel dedicated to improving parent-teen relationships through an Afrocentric lens rather than westernized parenting models.

Her academic contributions are equally focused on regional empowerment; she has conducted critical research on the factors driving brain drain in West Africa and recently submitted a paper to a Nigerian journal investigating the impacts of neocolonialism on language and culture in Nigeria. From presenting her research at the 2025 CASID conference to her roles writing at The Fulcrum, The Modern Impact and in Politika, Oghenefejiro is dedicated to ensuring that the future of international development is rooted in authentic social discourse and socio-economic sovereignty.
