Position:      Team Leader

Location:     Kathmandu, Nepal

Reports to:  Director of Programs, WUSC

Duration:     Up to 5 years

WUSC is a leading Canadian non-profit organization in international development, committed to building a more equitable and sustainable world. We work with a unique and powerful network of post-secondary institutions, private-sector partners and volunteers to provide education, employment and empowerment opportunities that improve the lives of millions of disadvantaged youth around the world. WUSC is accepting applications for the Team Leader Position for the DFID Skills for Employment Program (SEP) in Nepal.

SEP aims to create domestic jobs for young people through supply and demand focused interventions on skills provision, and to support greater development benefits from migration. The programme will adopt a market based (markets for the poor) approach and be driven by innovation, evidence and value for money. The first phase (2 years) will be piloting new ideas to determine the most cost effective interventions and the second phase (2 years) will scale those up. WUSC is seeking individuals willing to submit their candidacy for consideration as a part of the implementation team for this project.

Scope of work

The project will be £ 18 million in value and four years in duration. The Team Leader is expected to manage a team of technical experts from the project office based in Kathmandu, Nepal

Qualifications Required

  • Postgraduate degree in relevant discipline;
  • At least ten years of experience working in similar leadership positions
  • Experience designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating donor-funded programs of comparable size and complexity. Experience with DFID-funded programs preferable;
  • Specific expertise delivering skills/workforce development programs and/or migration for development
  • Experience in multi-sector collaboration with government, business, industry associations, and civil society;
  • Relevant experience and networks in Nepal will be highly desirable;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Experience managing Challenge Funds is highly desirable.

This job opportunity is contingent upon award and funding from DFID.
