Project Officer TFO Canada confronts the challenge of global poverty by promoting sustainable economic development through export information, advice and contact.

TFO Canada facilitates access to the Canadian marketplace and shares Canadian trade expertise for the benefit of smaller exporters in developing countries. Founded in 1980, TFO Canada is a non-governmental, non-profit organization.

About The Position: The Project Officer’s role consists in supporting the overall TFO Canada multi-year programs and more specifically individual Project Managers under the direct supervision of the Program Director. This includes facilitating day to day program and event logistics, background research ahead of donor proposals/reports. In supporting the implementation and execution of various projects, specific responsibilities of the Project Officer will include:

Program support & logistics:

  • Help with the compilation of project reports including the data collection and offer primary analysis;
  • Support Project Managers with the organization and logistics of partners’ visits and trade-related technical assistance and capacity building projects/activities
  • Support Project Managers with inquiries received from developing country exporters and trade support institutions;
  • Coach volunteers and interns

Reporting & information administration:

  • Help record and synthetize lessons learned from TFO Canada events such as trade missions and trade fairs;
  • Ensure proper paper and electronic recording and filling of program related documents and information;
  • Develop and/or maintain active consultants and volunteers/interns databases;
  • Support with other duties as assigned

  • Able to manage multiple issues and cope with a demanding workload;
  • Present a customer focused attitude;
  • Effective communicator, both writing and orally;
  • Proficient computer skills for email, spreadsheets, word processing, presentation development and the internet;

Knowledge & Experience:

  • At least two years relevant work experience, preferably in a non-profit environment;
  • Strong project support and administrative skills;
  • Fluent in English and French. Knowledge of Spanish would be an asset;
  • Interest and knowledge of trade and development issues Education:
  • Bachelor in business administration or other relevant related subject from a recognized college or university
