Niagara College, widely regarded as one of Canada’s most innovative applied learning post-secondary institutions, has expanded its international reach with the launch of two female colleges in Al Majamah and Al Ahasaa Saudi Arabia. With a strategic focus on developing “World-Ready and Work-Ready” graduates, these campuses specialize in delivering a number of diploma programs in the areas of Business and IT, as well as a Foundation Program for English language development.

Applicants are invited for the 12-month position of Principal, Female Campuses. Reporting to the Managing Director, KSA Operations, the Principal is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the campus including academic programming, operations and student services. Working closely with the Senior Management Team, the incumbent will also execute the vision, mission and the goals of the college; hiring and retaining of faculty; and enhancing the faculty’s academic standards.

The Campus Principal will oversee the development and execution of the campus Business Plan in effectively leading all relevant college departments supporting the active recruitment and successful retention of students in support of enrolment and budget targets. The Principal will also work with their team to establish effective quality control measures and high academic standards, along with overseeing the execution of budget planning, and evaluation of educational programs.

This position has a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal, and with a start date of as soon as possible. It is expected that the incumbent be flexible in terms of hours of work and maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and tact regarding internal and external relations.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• The Campus Principal is accountable for creating a work environment that is conducive to effective team/individual performance necessary to support the development and delivery of high-quality, sustainable and educational programs/services, leading to a high level of student/client confidence and satisfaction with college programs/services

• Provides strong, dynamic academic and administrative leadership, fosters a collegial environment which encourages scholarship, teaching, academic excellence, and promotes and engages in professional development

• Promotes quality instruction, student success, and integrated planning to meet the educational needs of students in a vocational community college environment

• Provides oversight of assessment for student learning and college-wide external quality reviews

• As a member and leader of the Senior Management Team of the college, works closely with other team members to address college-wide issues pertaining to such items as fiscal responsibility, strategic planning, enrollment management, student life, communications and community relationships

• Acts as the lead officer in the recruitment and selection of faculty, and recommends to the Managing Director, KSA Operations the employment of those selected

• Works effectively with community groups, educational entities, business, industry, government and legislative bodies to develop partnerships which result in improved On the Job Training opportunities, services to students and to the community

• Plans, in collaboration with other administrators and faculty, the schedule of classes

• The Campus Principal develops and optimizes strategic linkages and partnerships with all levels of government, community, education, business, industry and international educational sectors to secure new educational and training opportunities in a competitive and diverse educational marketplace

• Assists with the planning and development of on-campus learning enterprises and their integration into diploma studies as an enhanced educational opportunity for all Niagara College KSA students

• Assist in the develop and implementation of the college´s marketing and recruitment strategy in order to attract new and increase the number students

• Develop Academic Plans and ensure campus wide program integrity and quality

 

Skills

Required qualifications, at a minimum and preferred, include:

• A minimum of a Master’s degree in education or equivalent

• A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in Higher Education. Experience working in a vocational education environment is preferred

• Demonstrated skills in academic planning, curriculum development, academic support programming, student success metrics, research and analytical skills

• Understanding of Saudi Skills Standards is considered a definite asset.

• Excellent communication, planning, problem solving and decision making skills

• Strong consensus-building and collaboration skills

• Demonstrated successful experience leading an international team from diverse cultures and vocational careers (English, Business Administration, IT, Mechanics)

• Ability to employ effective cultural sensitivity within college operations

• Prior working experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC is preferred

• Fluency in English is a must. The ability to communicate in Arabic is considered an asset.
